Message from the CEO
I did not start Align Partners because I wanted to start a company.
I started Align Partners because after more than 20 years in the technology industry, I was tired of watching good opportunities fail for bad reasons.
Throughout my career, I worked for manufacturers, distributors, service providers, and technology companies. I sat in countless meetings where everyone wanted the same outcome. The customer wanted a solution. The partner wanted to help. The vendor wanted to grow. The distributor wanted to support the transaction.
Yet somehow, deals still got stuck.
Not because the technology did not work. Not because the customer did not have a need. Not because the economics did not make sense.
Deals got stuck because of contracts, procurement processes, billing challenges, compliance requirements, internal politics, and organizations that were operating in parallel instead of together.
The more I advanced in my career, the more I realized the technology was rarely the problem.
Alignment was.
I have always been the person asking, “Why are we making this harder than it needs to be?”
That question eventually became the foundation for Align Partners.
In 2024, I decided to stop talking about the problem and build a company designed to solve it. My vision was simple: create an organization that helps technology providers, distributors, partners, and customers work together more effectively.
No unnecessary complexity. No hidden agendas. No making customers navigate a maze of processes just to buy a solution that helps their business.
Just alignment.
The inspiration for our company came from an unlikely place: the relationship between the rhino and the oxpecker bird. On the surface, they seem completely different. But together, they help each other survive and thrive. That idea perfectly captures what I believe business partnerships should be.
The best partnerships are not transactional.
The best partnerships create value for everyone involved.

Founder & Chief Executive Officer
David Merced is a technology channel executive and entrepreneur with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations navigate complex technology decisions, build strategic partnerships, and accelerate growth. Throughout his career, he has developed a reputation for connecting technology providers, channel partners, and customers in ways that create measurable business value and long-term success.
Prior to founding Align Partners, David held leadership positions with organizations including CDW, AMD, RingCentral, IntelePeer, and MotionCX. His experience spans communications, customer experience, cloud, contact center, networking, and emerging technologies, where he has helped organizations expand market opportunities through effective channel strategies and partner ecosystems. Having worked across both direct and indirect sales models, David brings a unique perspective on how vendors, distributors, partners, and customers can align to achieve stronger business outcomes.
David founded Align Partners to help organizations navigate the increasing complexity of today's technology landscape. Recognizing that procurement, contracting, compliance, billing, and channel alignment often slow innovation, he created a model focused on simplifying decision-making, accelerating execution, and delivering greater value for all stakeholders.
At Align Partners, David leads the company's overall strategy, partner development, and growth initiatives. He works closely with technology providers, channel organizations, and enterprise customers to identify opportunities, strengthen partnerships, and support the adoption of transformative solutions across AI, customer experience, communications, cloud, networking, and security.
David is based in Chicago and remains actively engaged in the technology channel community. His passion lies in building trusted relationships, creating sustainable growth, and helping organizations move from complexity to clarity.

Patrick Echols
Vice President, Sales & Business Development
Patrick Echols is a technology sales and business development executive with more than 15 years of experience helping organizations align technology investments with business outcomes. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for developing strategic partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and guiding clients through complex technology decisions across cloud, infrastructure, managed services, and emerging technologies.
Prior to joining Align Partners, Patrick held multiple leadership and business development roles at CDW, where he advised organizations on digital transformation strategies and generated more than $20 million in annual revenue through cloud and managed services solutions. He has consistently delivered exceptional results by combining deep industry knowledge with a relationship-first approach to sales and client engagement.
At Align Partners, Patrick leads sales and business development efforts, focusing on building strategic relationships, expanding market opportunities, and helping clients navigate an increasingly complex technology landscape. His passion lies in connecting people, ideas, and solutions in ways that create measurable value and long-term success.
Patrick holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Northern Illinois University. He is also an active community leader, serving on nonprofit and education boards throughout the Chicago area and mentoring the next generation of sales professionals.
